Our team took the creative liberty to hide some secret messages in our film. Though we haven't started filming yet, we managed to fill in certain grey areas, and fix scenes we all agreed were too abrupt.
People think writing in cursive is easy, and I used to agree. No one had ever explained to us why cursive was taught in school as a specific skill. But there were many theories. "Maybe it's to get an easy A." "It could be because not everyone can adapt to new writing styles that easily." Only recently I learnt the real reason was that changing one small line, or adding one single loop could change the entire meaning. We decided to implement this in our film opening.
This picture is from a movie called "Coraline". It's where we got our inspiration for this scene. If you focus on the second 'o' you can see there's a double loop. When there is a double loop in a cursive 'o' it indicated that the word is a lie. In the original film this meant to indicate that the girl was welcome, but she was not home. We plan to add double loops to both the 'o's', as it is a better fit for our scene.
In the early days of radio, Morse code was the primary means of communication. Nowadays, there is barely anyone who knows morse code. This isn't surprising, and frankly neither is upsetting. There are many modes of communication now, as technology has advanced. However, this makes it much easier to plant hidden secrets in movies or shows. That's what we plan to do.
